I've been trying to set up a successful colony on maps with no growing period, relying on indoor farming for food. hydroponics were the first thing i tried, but later on i started thinking that a soil farm created with fertilizer pumps would be more efficient.. The hydroponics technically grow faster but are subject to power shortages, solar flares, zzzts, etc. both are subject to blights however. greenhouses are cheaper too, since they only cost a little steel and wall/door materials, while hydroponics require tons of steel and a lot of components to build.. A modern marvel for farming is hydroponic farming. why settle for the olden ways when you can research some new and improved ways to feed your people?.
