Aquaponics System Cycling

If you're starting an aquaponic system, it's important to understand what it takes to start producing your crops. cycling your system is the next crucial step after you do the initial build.. Cycling is the process of introducing ammonia to the system to attract the bacteria required for successful aquaponics. microbes are a critical component of an aquaponic system. the microbes are bacteria that convert ammonia created by the fish waste into nitrites and then nitrates.. Cycling up a system with fish usually takes 6 weeks. fishless cycling might take as little as 3 weeks but when adding new fish, careful monitoring of water quality is always necessary. aquaponics, bio-filter cycling how to cycle a system.

Cycling in aquaponics is one of the most important processes when starting an aquaponics system. it is essential to the success of the system, the health of the fish, and the growth of the hydroponic plants.. I used fish to cycle my first aquaponics system and i suspect this is how most people approach cycling. in some ways it is the easier of the two methods because there are no extra inputs, but it is definitely the more stressful of the two options because live critters are involved.. Cycling in aquaponics. cycling starts when your fish (or you) first add ammonia to your system. ammonia (chemical formula nh 3) is a compound made of nitrogen and hydrogen.. it can come either from your fish or from other sources that we will discuss in the next issue..
